Beef Stroganoff Recipes Slow Cooker Mushrooms
09/17/2003
This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Make sure you lot do these 5 things, however: 1. Employ "Condensed Golden Mushroom" soup. The regular Foam of Mushroom doesn't have the larger pieces of mushrooms. 2. Substitute one/4 cup beef broth for 1/4 water. 3. Use 4 oz. sour cream instead of cream cheese. 4. Add 1/2 t. pepper for a tiny little (merely necessary) kick. 4. Just earlier adding the sour cream, mix one T. corn starch with 2 T. common cold water, and so add together this mixture to stroganoff. This gives it the necessary extra thickness. Then, savor this FABULOUSLY delicious and elementary to make dish!
10/18/2005
Wow! For my hubby and I to agree that a dish is worthy of v stars is very rare. This was a bang-up condolement food dinner, perfect afterward a very long day, so easy to make. And I have never fabricated homemade stroganoff earlier! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14's review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on hither (thank you!). To exercise what Jillybean did, and salve others some time, here is what all these reviews say to practice: 1)Add some common salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water but continue worchestshire and cream cheese the same. 4)Add i/ii packet onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Cook on LOW just for 5 hours. half dozen) Add a dollop of sour foam also when calculation foam cheese. 7) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (about iv-6 oz) 1/two 60 minutes earlier serving. eight) Serve over egg noodles. I followed these suggestions, and now my husband, who is a big fan of Hamburger Helper, wants this instead and thinks I am the stroganoff goddess. =) A keeper for the recipe box! I will make this oftentimes.
09/xiv/2006
I think I've found my new favorite condolement food. This was really adept. I used 2 pounds of round steak (only don't similar stew meat), 2 cans of golden mushroom soup, added some onion soup mix (for flavor), and 1/2 cup water (I like gravy). To help the cream cheese melt easier, cube and soften information technology earlier adding. I like the idea of using cream cheese rather than the traditional sour cream because if you're lucky enough to have leftvovers, it reheats nicer than sour cream. I can't expect to make it over again!

It really irks me when i come on hither to go a proficient recipe with a practiced rating and people'due south reviews are all nigh the changes they made. I dont accept time to read everyones reviews with all the changes to make this recipe "better'. Rate the recipes as is and if you have modifications or alter then mail service a new recipe!!!!!!!

5 stars for a great piece of cake recipe for the decorated on-the-become parent! Doubled the sauce!!! Added 1/2 tsp of fresh minced garlic, one/2 bundle of dry Italian-style salad dressing and ane/2 package of Lipton'southward dry onion/ bulky/ mushroom soup mix to give the stroganoff actress flavor complexity. Subbed low sodium beef broth for the water, and depression sodium worcestershire for the regular. Added sauteed mushrooms 1/2 hour prior to the finish and stirred in sour cream to gustation prior to serving! Helpful hint: Cheque the intensity of your crockpot as some are "hotter" than others and you lot may not need to cook the stroganoff the full 8 hours as the recipe lists. Thanks Jessica - great recipe!
01/29/2002
This tastes really good, but I establish that because I floured and browned the meat (which naturally thickens the sauce) and added fresh mushrooms (which blot a LOT of wet), I increased the water to a full cup and still would accept been happy with a thinner sauce. I liked the flavor enough to requite this another endeavor - this fourth dimension no mushrooms and with a full soup can of water. I also retrieve I'll apply traditional sour cream instead - the cream cheese tasted very expert, but I recall the texture of the sour cream will suit my tastes better. That's the beauty of this recipe - it'south a smashing place to take off & tinker to your preferences!

Give thanks Y'all! Thank you! THANK YOU! My husband is the pickiest eater there is and he loved this. Hamburger Helper Stroganoff has been my hubby's favorite since he was a little boy. I hated making it but did for him, till last night, I put my foot downward and told I wanted to effort this recipe. He hates mushroom and I did not really think he would like information technology. He ate a HUGE bowl at dinner, and then pulled out the leftovers soon before going to bed and ate ANOTHER HUGE BOWL. He told me he like this more his favorite stroganoff. I used some of the other suggestions. I keep the meat(i lb.), worcestershire(1 tbls.), and cream cheese(iv oz) the same. I doubled the soup(2 cans) and water(1/2 loving cup).I omitted the onions (husband hates them) simply I did add half a pack of the lipton onion soup mix. Thanks so much for this recipe. I am sure I will be making this for a LONG fourth dimension.
xi/09/2002
Awesome over egg noodles. Supersede the water with sherry and substitute ane bundle onion soup mix for the onions. YUMMY!!!
11/25/2002
I am thrilled, thrilled, THRILLED to accept found this recipe. My husband loves when I make stroganoff, but I hate all the work involved. Per the other reviewers' suggestions, I used sour cream, too as the onion soup bundle. Wonderful! I threw in a jar of mushrooms toward the end of cooking - I had a very happy hubby! Thanks for the EASY and succulent recipe!
09/15/2006
I admittedly loved this recipe! It was soooo like shooting fish in a barrel, AND, much better than other stroganoff recipes that I have used (I've used 1 recipe that chosen for sour cream, foam cheese, and cream soup.........clogged arteries!!!) I took the advice of some other reviews and I added a packet of stale onion soup mix. When I added the cream cheese at the end, I also threw in two handfuls of fresh mushrooms. Information technology was the perfect touch. I will be calculation this recipe to my permanent drove!!
01/02/2011
I made this for the outset fourth dimension last night and followed the recommendations of Jillybean and others. I used: ii pounds cubed sirloin steak two cans golden mushroom soup one big chopped onion 2 cloves garlic minced 1/2 pound sliced mushrooms one tablespoon Worcestershire sauce ane teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup beef broth 1 pack onion soup mix 4 ounces cream cheese, softened. 4 ounces sour cream All but cream cheese and sour cream went into the crockpot and cooked for vi hours, served over noodles and information technology was OMG Skillful! Cheers for sharing
01/27/2009
I am just giving this 4 stars since I did accept the advice of many reviewers and modified the recipe quite a fleck. Instead of using a tedious cooker, I cooked this in a dutch oven on meridian of the stove and it turned out really expert. I served it over egg noodles, merely my family likes information technology on rice improve. I love the addition of the cream cheese instead of sour foam, too! Instead of ownership exspensive stew meat, I bought a chuck roast and cut it upwards myself. ***Update: I fabricated this again and didn't add together the cream cheese due to not having any. It was still delicious. Probably not truly considered stroganoff, though. My family prefers it on rice, too.
10/26/2011
Jessica, thank you for posting this fantastic base recipe, I similar many others did non follow it to the letter of the alphabet, but without your recipe wouldnt have tried it at all! I give this 5 stars because your base of operations recipe is the cornerstone of information technology all! I always read the reviews of any recipe I am going to attempt, and and then make my ain changes accordingly. I had a few pounds of cube steak that I wanted to utilize up and make tender, and this fit the pecker...I sliced some onions thick and layered them first, then I cut up the cube steak, didnt chocolate-brown or flour it at all....put in half a pack of beefy onion soup, tablespoon of Lea and perrins, loving cup of h2o, two cans of gold mushroom soup (we like a thick gravy here, lol) and about a heaping teaspoon of ground pepper....allow that all simmer in the crock pot for about v hours...then added about 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms...let it cook on low another 60 minutes...and then added half a bar of depression fat cream cheese then 8oz of sour cream...served over wide egg noodles and it was a HUGE hit in my household of three...fabricated enough that we had it again last dark and it tasted even meliorate! Nifty use for cube steak btw, a skillful cheap option...Cheers again Jessica, this volition be a staple in my house this wintertime!
03/03/2009
So many reviewers said follow jillybean14's suggestions - I finally found her on folio 45. To assist out, here is what she suggests: (1) add salt, pepper and garlic, (2)double the sauce only go on the foam cheese and worchestershire the same, (3) use Gilded Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to near 5-6 hrs. on depression (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (six) add a boullion cube, (vii) add a one-half parcel of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles (ix) add sauteed mushrooms, nearly 1/two an hour before serving.
09/05/2002
Great recipe! I did change it a piffling chip. I used a round steak and coated information technology with flour and browned information technology earlier I put it in the crock pot. I also added a tin of beef broth to the mix and used the whole brick of cream cheese. Turns out bully every time!
06/26/2007
Hubby's first words were..."This is awesome." This turned out great and was super easy. Perfect for a cold winter evening or company! Notwithstanding I did add together a few things and made a few unproblematic changes after looking at a couple of the other recipes. Here is what I did. i tin can of gilt mushroom soup and half tin can of cream of mushroom, whole package of fresh sliced mushrooms, 3 sliced green onions and one-half a chopped yellow onion. 1 tin of beef broth instead of any water. I seasoned the cubed stew beef with seasoning salt ( and if you cook it on low for six-8 hours it does Non toughen upwardly, ours was sooo tender! So salve a few bucks and become the stew meat!). Cooked on low for 6 hours and served over buttered noodles with parsley. I would really add more than mushrooms next fourth dimension. The concluding hour I put in viii oz of depression fat sour foam and iii heaping tablespoons of nonfat cream cheese. I then took 1 tbls of corn starch (you could use flour) and mixed information technology with milk to thicken the sauce. Information technology was pretty thick already so I would only add together it if you like a thicker sauce. Putting the cream cheese in the last hour gave it plenty of time to combine and cook downward and so it was not chunky. Perfection!!
04/16/2012
I made a lot of changes based on reviews. I use post-obit: two lbs stew meat, 2 cans gilt cream of mushroom, 1 med onion diced, ii cloves garlic minced, 1 beefiness bullion, 2T Worcestershire. Sauce, 1 pkt onion soup mix, 1/2 c.-ish beef broth, sliced mushrooms, & iv oz. foam cheese. Cook eight hours on low and add cream cheese about 30-sixty minutes before serving. I've made this dozens of times and I no longer measure and it e'er turns out not bad. Since at that place is only two of usa and I don't desire left overs I use 1 lb stew meat, 1 tin golden mushroom soup in a smaller crockpot on low for 5-half dozen hours and everything else the aforementioned and it's still good.
05/21/2012
Ever on the lookout for certain-burn dull cooker meals and this was great, so thanks Jessica and also JILLYBEAN14 and other reviewers. (Given that I followed Jilly'due south modifications.) Received compliments all around for this. Definitely a keeper to brand again, nice comfort fare.
01/12/2011
My husband thought it to be a bit banal as far as flavor goes, just I just added some more than Worcestershire sauce to the dish one time it was washed and it tasted a lot meliorate, other than that I just used sour foam instead of cream cheese and this dish was super yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely make it once more!
11/01/2005
Wow! Just delicious! We volition for sure make this over again and again. I did all the alterations recommended by other reviewers though. 2 lb stew meat, 2 cans soup, ane/2 loving cup beefiness broth instead of water, added table salt, pepper and garlic powder, 1/2 packet onion soup mix, sauteed mushrooms in butter and added at end and dollop of sour cream. Cooked on low five hrs. Information technology was to Die for! We served over egg noodles with a side of boiled potatoes with a butter/dill sauce. Its also nifty warmed up the side by side day!
09/06/2010
And I take never made homemade stroganoff earlier! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14'south review, who summed upwardly the 500+ reviews on here (cheers!). To do what Jillybean did, and salve others some fourth dimension, hither is what all these reviews say to practice: ane)Add together some common salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water just keep worchestshire and cream cheese the aforementioned. 4)Add 1/2 packet onion soup mix to mixture. five)Cook on Low only for v hours. 6) Add a dollop of sour cream also when adding foam cheese. vii) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (near four-vi oz) 1/two hr earlier serving. viii) Serve over egg noodles.
01/26/2014
I found this recipe 5 years agone and just now deciding I should add my ii cents - I like to retrieve I've perfected information technology, somewhat. For the more picky cook, it helps to brown your beef. No need to, just information technology definitely brings out more season. Nosotros're two guys so one pound of beef just doesn't cutting it for wanting to accept this for dinner for a few nights, so I sometimes double or triple the recipe, especially if nosotros're having visitor. I toss in a bit more actress worcestershire sauce, similar about 1 tablespoon extra. I've spent quite a bit of fourth dimension in Russian federation and can tell you this little recipe would (and HAS) satisfied a picky Russian... and those Russians know their stroganoff! ;-) As others accept said, a cube of beef bouillon doesn't hurt but if you remember it needs more than seasoning, go for it! I always add together a touch of Cajun seasoning to spice it upwards a scrap, simply I have Cajun roots so, that'southward just me. Finally, I E'er add together mushrooms near the terminate. Have an 8oz or more pack of baby bellas, slices em upwardly, toss them in a pan and sauté with some butter, then ready aside. In the last 60 minutes or two of cooking, toss them in and stir. Seriously, yous gotta practise this. It adds the authentic stroganoff gustation and texture and jacks upwardly the recipe a bit if you're feeding a hungry family. Fantabulous recipe - this recipe is the reason I've become a slow cooker guy and I'd dearest to meet the person who posted it and shake their hands or requite 'em a hug. Information technology's just that skillful!!
12/01/2011
Come across JillyBean14's Review which I copied here: I read nearly all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To save everyone else some time, here's what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out great): (1) add common salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Aureate Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to nearly five-six hours on low, (five) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the foam cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add together a bullion cube, (7) add together a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms nearly 1/two an hour earlier serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, merely I trusted others and I think it helped. Keen ho-hum-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and then but boiled the bag to reheat. It was cracking the 2d time around! The only thing I did differently was skip the onion soupd mix - can't stand it. Whole family LOVED this recipe. Highly recommend information technology!!
11/12/2005
I cannot believe this is five stars. My husband and I did not like this at all. I have been cooking since I was twelve and I am known by family unit and friends to be an crawly cook, so I was a niggling embarrassed when hubby asked me not to make this again.
02/27/2007
I fabricated this using the exact recipe. Because of my work schedule mine ended up cooking on low for about 10 hours. My only regret is that for some reason my onions never got soft. Next fourth dimension I'll saute them a bit first. The ingredients were simple, and we liked the end result. We'll definately exist making this again!
01/29/2003
Okay this is a good basic recipe. I double the recipe. Used one-half gilded mushroom and one-half roasted garlic foam of mushroom soup. Added ane bundle bulky onion soup mix. Also added some cooking sherry (1/four loving cup). An hour or so before serving, added fresh sliced mushrooms (near 1.five cups).
10/27/2011
I took some of the suggestions from other readers and added some extra mushrooms and more meat. I used the gold mushroom soup and also added a tin can of beefy mushroom soup and eliminated the suggestion of onion soup. I added some pepper and garlic. I did not use Cream Cheese every bit I don't treat the cream cheese season in casseroles - it simply seems to overpower everything else. I used about a cup of sour cream as I had a lot of sauce. If I were to make information technology once more, I'd probably non utilize the 2d can of soup as there was just so much sauce. That said, hubby and I enjoyed this a lot and I'll probably arrive once more with a few adjustments to strive for that 5th. star.
02/01/2010
this is really adept Equally LONG As YOU MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES: (Jillybean14 read all the reviews and summarized the changes that needed to exist fabricated. These are her changes) 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat 2 cans golden mushroom soup 1/2 loving cup chopped onion ane/ii packet of dry onion soup mix 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup h2o 4 ounces foam cheese spoonful of sour cream Follow the directions listed on the recipe. Add a bit of common salt, pepper & garlic to the pot along with everything else. Stir in spoonful of sour foam at the same fourth dimension you stir in cream cheese. my 4 yr old and ii yr old couldn't get plenty of this. I served it over wide-cut egg noodles. It was done in exactly v hours on low. I will definitely make this again. recall - don't sub the golden mushroom soup. it has to exist golden mushroom.
01/07/2015
Extremely bland, and the cream cheese left little chunks because of combining it with heat (didn't consider at the time).
xi/xiv/2006
I'one thousand not sure what went incorrect, but mine burned to the bottom! I followed the directions exactly! Did anyone else take this problem????
01/xviii/2003
The premise of this recipe is fine but it lacks seasoning. I added 1 TBL extra worstershire, 1/three cup white wine, ane TBL dijon mustard, .v TSP stale dill, .75 TSP nutmeg, salt and pepper, i tin tuckered mushrooms. I also substituted light sour cream for cream cheese. Information technology was excellent.
11/07/2010
Awesome. I like simple recipes with a lot of leftovers, so I read over some reviews and came up with this. 2lbs stew meat, 3 cans Golden Mushroom soup, 4oz cream cheese, ane/4 loving cup sour cream, 1tbs Worcestershire sauce, and instead of onions or water, I substituted in a can of french onion soup. This also eliminated the onion soup mix. Pepper to taste. I LITERALLY dropped everything in the crockpot on high and went to work for five hours. Came dorsum later, prepared the noodles and spooned over the yummy mixture. Super easy, super yum.
03/05/2014
I tried this adding 8 oz. of mushrooms,a cup of scarlet vino and two tbsp. of beefiness bullion. I seared the meat, browning it only not fully cooking it. Best stroganoff nosotros've always had.
08/20/2005
Amazing, this is and then absolutely wonderful, very easy. The foam cheese was lumpy though, adjacent time I will take out some sauce and whisk the cream cheese into that then add to the mixture. I also added 2tbsp of sour foam, sauteed mushrooms, salt pepper, garlic and boullion. I would double the recipe if you are making this for four or more adults. Cheers for a bully recipe.
10/xx/2011
My husband said this is the all-time stroganoff he has ever had. I used basis meat instead of the cube meat (only because my kids will eat the ground meat). I also could not find gold mushroom soup so I used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead. And I used beef broth in identify of the water. The taste was wonderful and I volition be making this version from at present on.
04/22/2009
I read almost all of the reviews and made modifications based on them; and here they are (and what I did...and information technology came out absolutely delicious!): (1) add together salt, pepper, and 3 cloves minced garlic, (2) double the soup (3) use Gilt Mushroom, NOT cream of mushroom! (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to nigh 5-6 hours on low, (five) use 2 oz cream cheese and a dollop sour cream (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add together a half bundle of onion soup mix (8) add sautéed mushrooms near one/two an hour before serving. Mine came out rather thin, so it might assist if yous coat the meat in flour before cooking it. Oh, and I used Venison instead of beef, and none of my family could tell. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted the other reviews and I'm glad I did! v stars to the modified recipie, but 3 to this bones (and rather banal) recipie! (Special thanks to Jillybean14 and MomSavedbyGrace!)
07/15/2005
I love stroganoff but was looking for a new recipe for it. This recipe was excellent!!! I used 2 cans of soup and also added 1/2 pkg. of onion soup mix and 1 can of beef broth instead of water. The beef was so tender. I can't wait to make it once more! Thank you Jessica!
11/24/2009
Always looking for something new to make crusade the simpler it is the meliorate my husband likes it. We both enjoyed this repast, I had a parcel of beef ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I about forget the cream cheese and because it wasn't thick at that point, I added most a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, and so I remembered the cream chesse. I similar mushrooms, he doesn't and so I sauteed them and put them on my portion but. Both of us were happy! I'll be calculation this to my recipes. Cheers for sharing!
09/07/2009
So Skilful!! Cooked overnight on depression in the crock pot. I left it on warm until dinner time. Doubled the recipe since I only had a 2 ane/2 lb roast instead of the stew meat. But, really good anyways.
x/14/2002
This is a good, piece of cake recipe, although I exercise think that it's missing something. It needs some spices to jazz it up. I will brand information technology again, but the next fourth dimension I volition add oregano and perhaps some flour to thicken the gravy. I'll also double the recipe, since it made enough for my husband and I to share for dinner with a petty left over for his tiffin the next twenty-four hours. I used sour cream instead of cream cheese. Rather than adding the cream to the crock pot, I served it on the side then we could add together every bit much or as little equally we wanted. I found that it was simply every bit good without. I served this over egg noodles which I prefer (more hearty). My husband gave this a 7 on a scale of 1-ten.
06/09/2011
I followed the offset reviewer'due south suggestions. They were great. Added pepper and 3 cloves garlic. Doubled the soup and water. Exercise not use Foam of Mushroom. Reduced the cooking time to most 6 hours on depression and one/2 hr on high. Added a "dollup" of sour cream when I added the cream cheese. Added a beef bullion cube. Added a half packet of onion soup mix. Added viii oz package of sauteed mushrooms 1/2 60 minutes before serving. Served over egg noodles. Admittedly loved it! The beefiness was so tender and the sauce was tasty! I as well served it with bread to soak up the extra sauce. I froze the leftovers.
03/25/2002
WOW!! A real keeper! I added canned mushrooms, salt and pepper. At the terminate I added the cream cheese (3 oz) kickoff and and then added about a 1/4 cup of sour cream. I think the combo of the cream cheese and sour cream is perfect.
ten/02/2006
Made this for the first time for company, and it was a hit! I used 2lbs. bottom round steak cut into cubes, ii cans golden mush soup, 1/2 package dry out onion soup mix, and sauted 6 oz sliced fresh mushrooms, and poured it in pot with juices, and a little xtra cream cheese since I used 2 cans soup. Followed recipe for the rest. Served over buttered noodles with a side of green peas, and bread for dipping up the delicious gravy! Can't go incorrect with this winner...
04/22/2011
Very good, substituted beef goop for water, added some granulated garlic, and substituted sour cream for cream cheese.Served over egg noodles.
04/ten/2010
this recipe is perfect the mode it is. to everyone that feels the need to rate it based on changes that they have made personally, why don't you submit your own recipe and rate this 1 for what it is? how insulting. and, lastly, thanks, jessica! our family (of half-dozen) all beloved this recipe exactly like you wrote information technology!
08/09/2003
This recipe was very expert. I fabricated just as it was written. Next time I will utilise sour cream instead of foam cheese and I will try white wine in place of the water.
02/05/2014
I don't unremarkably care for beefiness stroganoff; however, I made this final dark (with the recommendations from billyjean14)and loved it. I am reposting the recommendations from billyjean14 that I followed: I read almost all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To save everyone else some time, here's what they say to do (and what I did...and information technology came out great): (i) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Gilded Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about v-6 hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour foam when yous add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add together a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms virtually 1/2 an hour earlier serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, merely I trusted others and I think it helped. Peachy slow-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Repast and then merely boiled the bag to reheat. It was slap-up the second time effectually!
12/28/2014
I don't think I will ever make beefiness stroganoff with sour cream again. This was so succulent and both me, my fiance and best friend said it was astonishing! I did make a couple of adjustments just pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used 2lbs of meat, 2 cans of the gilt mushroom soup and added some chicken bullion pulverization, garlic salt, steak firm seasoning and some pepper. I didn't mensurate 1/ii cup of onion; instead I simply used half of a large yellowish onion and finally added a 3rd of a 16oz package chopped mushrooms. Right before I added the foam cheese I sauted the remainder of the mushrooms and added to the crock pot. And then added the 4oz of foam cheese. I took out a large amount (about half or a piffling more) of the liquid in the crockpot and boiled it in a sauce pan, adding a teeny bit of butter (less so a tbsp) and some corn starch until it thickened up a bit and poured it dorsum into the crockpot, turned off the heat and allow sit for virtually 10 minutes to continue thickening. Served over egg noodles and was amazing! I am making some tonight and am going to serve it with some grilled asparagus.
09/05/2014
I made this recipe as written in the showtime and though it very banal. Tried to spice it up with garlic powder, onion powder and pepper, still not very flavorful, although we did similar it. Sorry, only I take to give it only 3 stars.
09/04/2003
I concord with the previous reviewer: this dish has little taste. The recipe is sorely lacking in seasoning and creating flavor depth. The one thing I did like was how tender the meat came out through the slow cooking process. Seasonings are really needed, such as common salt and pepper, garlic, beef bouillon and/or broth, perhaps even a touch of tomato paste. I also think that browning the meat and onions (besides equally mushrooms) would result in a much fuller season, so I'll do that side by side time. And, the foam cheese just does not work in stroganoff – sour foam would much amend and authenticate this dish. Although I wasn't impressed, it'south definitely a dish I tin can tinker with. : ) Folks - run across "Daria's Ho-hum Cooker Beef Stroganoff" on this site. That recipe looks MUCH better.
09/28/2010
OK this is an awesome base recipe. As I was reading the other reviews and preparing information technology, I did make some suggested adjustments. My family asked for this all the time. (1) add common salt, pepper, and garlic, (ii) double the sauce but go along the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Golden Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to well-nigh five-6 hours on depression, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour cream when y'all add together the cream cheese to get an actress "tang", (half dozen) add a beefiness bullion cube, (seven) add together a half bundle of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms nigh 1/2 an hr before serving.
07/28/2011
This was really really practiced! I doubled the sauce but left the worcestershire and cream cheese the aforementioned. Had it 2 nights in a row and it was delicious.
12/07/2011
Doubled, and besides added 1/2 loving cup red wine, LOTS of pepper, and fresh garlic. Y U M M Y!!!
09/06/2011
This is my least favorite Stroganoff recipe that I have fabricated. I prefer regular cream of mushroom soup over the golden mushroom soup in this recipe. I would definitely recommend doubling the sauce mixture every bit the recipe as written didn't make enough for 4 servings.
09/30/2005
I made a double batch of this the first fourth dimension. I am expecting our kickoff baby, so I wanted to put some meals in the freezer. I split it and froze it in two separate foodsaver bags to make reheating in boiling h2o like shooting fish in a barrel. Nosotros had it concluding night. It's Fabled. Since I made a double batch, I took some suggestions from previous reviewers. I added a package of onion soup mix, some garlic and two jars of mushrooms. I also browned the meat before flinging it in the tedious cooker. I cooked it on low for viii hours. It reheats beautifully. We weren't sure about the cream cheese, but it really is quite skillful! Endeavor this one with no reservations. Will make over and over again (I'g going to make a lot since I have a huge slow cooker.)

I seasoned my beef prior to putting in the slow cooker with paprika, garlic pulverisation and s&p. I also added a beef bouillon cube for extra season. Side by side fourth dimension may add the onion soup mix to see how it tastes. Added sauteed mushrooms about 45 minutes before it was finished. Overall it was really yummy. My only complaint is that meat was a little tough though (cooked 8 hours on depression).

Served this for dinner last night. My whole crew..even my picky daughter loved it..yay!! I had some left over grilled steak that I used, rather than the stew meat. I didn't have golden mushroom soup, so I used reg. mushroom soup. I added a package of french onion soup mix, garlic, basil & paprika. I used beef broth, rather than water. I cooked on low for 4 hours. I didn't see you weren't supposed to add the cream cheese until the cease, only it still turned out neat. I served over homestyle noodles & topped with fresh basil. Will definitely brand again. Thank you for sharing!

I jazzed this recipe up, following the advice of some others. First, I coated the beefiness with the flour, common salt, and pepper and browned it. I added beef broth instead of h2o; I eliminated the onion and used a parcel of onion soup mix instead; I besides added one Tbs. of tomato plant paste and i Tbs. of horseradish. I placed fresh thyme and sage while it was cooking, simply removed them when I added two oz. of onion and chive cream cheese and 2 oz. sour cream.

Smashing! Extremely easy - there is aught to this, I kept on staring at the recipe to run across what I was forgetting to do/add to the pot merely didn't detect anything. Sometimes I think we forget that simple make-up leads to severely simple tastes extroadinaire! Perfect consistency and perfectly delicious! I through in some carrots and added a little cumin to the dull cooker then served with some egg noodles that I coated with butter and salt. Next time I might throw in some potatoes into the slow cooker with the stroganoff for more of a stew like all-in-one meal. Note I use egg noodles b/c my married man prefers noodles to rice all the same, I think this would exist awesome over rice. Delicioso!
10/16/2009
This was Excellent!!! I doubled the sauce, added mushrooms, garlic and more worch. Had with egg noodles. I'one thousand starting to effort to eat healthier... so I prob won't brand this likewise much but this will be one of my spoiled recipes.
01/17/2004
Turned out great...As per prior suggestion, I substitued beef goop for the water in the original recipe. I also substituted the golden mushroom for Campbells Condensed Mushroom with Garlic for a picayune extra boot. I browned the meat get-go for about five min., then cooked on high in crockpot for about five hours. Thanks for the recipe!

DELICIOUS & Like shooting fish in a barrel TO MAKE! My adjustments: 1 ane/two# Round Steak, 24 oz tin can Cream of Mushroom Soup, Onion (sm/med), ane T Worcestershire Sauce, 1/ii c water + 1 beef bouillion cube, Pkt of Onion Soup Mix, South & P + garlic salt. ADDED ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TO CROCK POT ON LOW FOR 5 i/2 HOURS. Then ADDED: 8 oz tin Mushrooms, 1/ii brick of Cream Cheese, 4 (tablespoon size) dollops of Sour Foam. COOKED Another i/2 HOUR. Served over Egg Noodles.

Made this for my family coming over for dinner. Had no Golden Mushroom so just used the regular Cream of Mushroom soup and it was even so great. Everyone gobbled it down. Served with homemade broad noodles and garnished with a niggling sour cream and parsley. I wonder if the Gold Mushroom soup would take made that much of a difference.

I never utilize my slow cooker because I feel like I'm cheating in the kitchen, haha ha. (dumb huh?) I followed MomSavedbyGraces changes and loved it. Next I will try the ho-hum cooker pepper steak.
07/27/2010
i made the original recipe and wasnt crazy over information technology, thought it was bland, so i tweaked iti used two cans of condensed onion soup since i dont similar mushrooms in the commencement place, but i still added the chopped onion since i thought it added a flake of freshness to it. As well used half sour cream half cream cheese, to get information technology out of my fridge, and added some garlic, black pepper and just a few drops of hot sauce, and put it over some white rice. not a traditional stroganoff, but it tasted nice, and since im never home its overnice to accept something you can dump in and leave for a few hours.
12/22/2010
So practiced, I took everybody'south suggestions and used half cream cheese half sour cream and added a whole pack of onion soup mix. then proficient the hubby ate two huge bowls of it!
03/sixteen/2014
This recipe was a hit with my zoo crew tonight for supper!! I didn't employ fresh onions I adapted the recipe for 10 servings which fabricated the amount of onions one and 1/4 cups of onion...and I have a daughter staying at abode right at present that is breastfeeding sooo I made a modest adjustment I substituted ane packet of lipton bulky onion soup mix. and just every bit I was adding the cream cheese I added some freshly cooked wide egg noodles poured them right in the crock pot and stirred them in dash of salt and a dash of garlic powder and the kids and adults alike loved this...from my grandbaby who is 2 and my dad who is 66 thanks so much!!
10/09/2006
Easy and delicious. I added Lipton Onion Soup as suggested by others instead of an onion and will definitely make this again. Information technology would be good over mashed potatoes too!
03/fifteen/2010
This is one of my favourite recipes. The husband loves it and it's so overnice to come dwelling house to dinner already made when I walk in the door, just melt some egg noodles and it'southward on the table. I throw this together at nighttime and put the whole crock pot in the fridge and simply plug it in on my way out the door in the morning.I usually arrive with craven instead of beef, add mushrooms and utilise herb and garlic flavoured foam cheese.
04/04/2011
I've made this a couple times now and each time theirs never any leftovers! The recipe is GREAT AS IS. Don't worry if you don't have any golden mushroom soup because the only difference is the added mushrooms. Then if yous similar mushrooms in yours just add some towards the end, unless you apply fresh ones, then yous can put them in in the commencement. The merely thing I inverse was to add garlic table salt. Nosotros dear salty nutrient and I melt with garlic in just virtually everything! Cheers for a peachy easy comfort food!
08/twenty/2013
This recipe as is its banal and overcooked. If yous have to add fifteen things to make it edible then this recipe should never accept gotten the rating it has. Relieve your food and make something else.
01/16/2011
Yummy! I doubled the original recipe and added a can of mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic, crushed red pepper, and a big dollop of sour foam. Served over egg noodles. Husband an I LOVED it! it was very like shooting fish in a barrel and smelled great cooking on a chilly winter twenty-four hours, i will be making this again.
02/17/2015
Tried this twice... Once as written and once again with modifications. Every bit written, it's a good basic recipe. With additions that I made, it'due south outstanding. Add together 1/two pkt onion soup mix, 1/4 cup ruby wine and a adept sprinkle of garlic powder. Cooked 1 lb frozen venison steaks on high for iv hours. Shredded the meat and added the foam cheese. Dynamite! Couldn't finish licking the spoon :)
10/thirty/2011
This recipe is neat as is! The only other thing I added was pepper. You guys are nuts to add onion soup mix to this when there is already 700 milligrams of sodium per serving. Enough of season without it.
07/17/2011
The original recipe seemed a bit plain and so I added sauteed mushrooms, extra onions, and some garlic. This probably helped a little. I enjoyed the sauce a lot. The meat wasn't equally tender equally I would take thought (cooked 5 hours on loftier), so adjacent time I think I'll use footing beef...
03/04/2010
1 give-and-take...AMAZING!! I followed JILLYBEAN14's review exactly...the just thing i will change next time is to non add actress salt.
eleven/06/2012
Yummy! I made this with no changes except I got in a hurry and put the foam cheese in at the start fourth dimension instead of at the end. It still worked out! And thanks to the Buzz folks that assured me it would be fine despite my error.
02/23/2010
Loved it. I do add together a little Burgundy Wine to give it an authentic Stroganoff flavor. I also apply half cream cheese and half sour foam.
02/10/2003
This recipe was fantastic! I doubled the recipe for my large, hungry family and in that location was just enough left over for my husband to have to work the side by side day for luncheon. I made a few changes based on other users comments. I added one/4 cup cooking sherry & a pkg of onion soup mix and the event was very flavorful. I will definately exist making this again at the request of my family.
02/25/2014
We ALL loved this!
ten/12/2008
I rated this recipe merely 3 stars because this recipe had to be adjusted to JELLYBEAN14 recommendations to run across the the 5 star quality. With JELLYBEAN14 modifications the Beef Stroganoff was five stars "The BEST!". Here are JELLYBEAN14 recommendations & Thanks again ;-) (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) utilise Gilt Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (iv) reduce the cooking time to about v-6 hours on low, (five) add together a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (vi) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half bundle of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms about one/2 an hour before serving.
xi/27/2011
This was a wow for us, peculiarly with such simple ingrediants. I always make as-is the get-go fourth dimension; I might add some water chestnuts next time around simply for some texture contrast. Just it is delicious and simple only as-written!
xi/10/2014
We liked this a lot. Took the advice of others and used golden mushroom soup and added beef flavoring and other seasonings!
02/25/2014
And then SO good! My husband absolutely loved it, too. A huge winner that volition exist in regular rotation. I did utilise JILLYBEAN14's suggestions, withal, and then I really can't comment on the recipe on superlative. The simply thing that I could think of to make this better is to double the recipe then there are plenty of leftovers! :)
02/25/2014
I followed exactly and I thought it was just okay. Looked great, smelled not bad...tasted okay.
12/thirty/2009
I made this earlier and idea it was banal. Then this fourth dimension I followed other reviewers and put everyone's review together and created the best stroganoff ever! I used ii cans mushroom soup fresh mushrooms 1/ii cup sour cream 1/2 loving cup cream cheese 1 cup water with beef bouillon cube 1 tsp thyme i tsp parsley 1 Tb garlic pulverisation 1/two TB common salt & 1 packet dried onion soup mix. and we served it over egg noodles. We all loved it! So thank you for the good base recipe and thanks to the other reviewers!
10/sixteen/2011
Read numerous reviews and took their suggestions and this was really, really practiced. I will actually use 16 oz. mushrooms (read reviews) next fourth dimension as that was my favorite part. I could eat the sauce with simply mushrooms and exist content but my husband would miss the beef. Cheers for the recipe!
07/12/2007
This stroganoff was first-class! I take tips to cut the time mode down in making this. 1st, read Jillybean's & momsavedbygrace'south reveiws on what to do dissimilar with ingredients. In improver to the above changes, I did the following with mine: 1) used TENDERIZED ROUND STEAK instead of stew meat. THIS IS And so IMPORTANT FOLKS!! You lot tin can cook stew meat until the cows come dwelling house & it will rarely get actually tender. My mom buys pre-tenderized round steak and uses information technology in stews and similar dishes; it always turns out fantastic. Just cube the meat yourself in v minutes & you'll shave hours off the melt fourth dimension. two)I added onion & garlic powder, salt & pepper 3) Added most a TBSPN of beef granuals four) One eight oz package of pre-sliced mushrooms, sauteed in cooking spray & one TBSPN or then of Olivio. Don't sautee mushrooms until they were soggy; go out a little texture and bite to them as the soup mushrooms tend to disappear. five) Added one very generous dallop of fat gratuitous sour foam (use Breakstones; you'll never miss the fat). I have a new KitchenAid slow cooker which might be a trivial more efficient than nigh but I recall the meat is the key to less cook time. I cooked this for an hr & 15min on high, so 2 hours on slightly higher than depression. It was perfect in 3 hours, 20 minutes (probably was done sooner but I wasn't home to bank check it). Tossed in the mushrooms right before serving likewise as cream cheese and sour cream; no farther cooking needed once that dissovles. Fabled!
03/07/2011
I prepared this recipe exactly equally written - only fair to do information technology this fashion if I'm going to charge per unit information technology. When I think of stroganoff I think of a creamy sauce with a sour cream flavor and this recipe was not fifty-fifty a little bit creamy creamy but more than gravy like. The golden mushroom soup almost gives it a bit of a bite/tartness that I didn't care for at all - personal preference. The recipe calls for eight hours on depression, which I did, but this was fashion too long equally the gravy similar sauce and meat were overcooked and slighly burned. This is not a recipe I will try once more.
04/12/2003
This is a groovy recipe!!!! It is super like shooting fish in a barrel and tastes fabulous! I would simply count on 2 servings. . . non four!
01/17/2012
I was excited to try this especially with such high ratings. I guess we are out of the norm here. My DH and I both agree that this just wasn't that practiced. Possibly it'due south because I don't unremarkably cook with canned foam soups. This is basically meat and soup. I volition stick with my old standby recipe starting with a roux. Sorry.
12/23/2002
Very succulent and easy to set. I used strips of steak and I took the advice of others and used low-fat foam of mushroom soup and substituted cooking sherry for the water. Then two hours before serving, I stirred in fresh mushrooms. I used the light cream cheese to stir in before serving, then served lite sour cream on the table to be used as desired. My stroganoff was served over a bed of fluffy white rice and made for a beautiful, delicious dinner. I highly recommend.
01/23/2011
My married man and I really liked this recipe. I took some of the advice of others merely not all... I basically doubled the meat, the golden mushroom soup, the water and worcestershire sauce. About an hour before it was washed, I added a packet of sliced fresh mushrooms to the crockpot. I kept the cream cheese the same (4 oz) and added 4 oz of sour cream. It produced a lot of liquid so next fourth dimension I may even use iii lbs of meat.
11/15/2011
Delicious! I made with 1 lb. of beefiness, 2 cans of aureate mushroom soup, 2 cloves of garlic, a whole onion and most i/2 parcel of Lipton onion soup, 1 TBS. worcestershire sauce, four ounces of cream cheese and 1/4 c. beef boullion plus a couple T. water.
09/09/2014
Sour cream much amend than cream cheese,, very dry
06/09/2008
Coming from a German-Russian family unit beef stroganoff has been a staple for as long as I can remember. I take a couple timeless recipes that are better- but more time consuming. I will hang on to this when I am looking for something quick- which is pretty oftentimes. It came out bully with all of the changes that were suggested in previous reviews- cheers JILLYBEAN14 for putting them all together. It saved a lot of time. The only alter I made was to add one can of Golden Mushroom and on of Foam of Mushroom when doubling the sauce. Serve with homemade egg noodles if y'all have them available... so much ameliorate than store bought!
03/05/2011
this was the best recipes for stroganoff my husband and I ever had. First I sub. 1/iv cup of beef goop for the 1/4 loving cup water then..I added some fresh mushrooms nearly 1 60 minutes earlier cookin was finished and used sour cream instead of the cream cheese just before serving. and added 1/2 tsp pepper for kick just earlier calculation the sour cream I added 1 tbsp of corn starch mixed w/ 2tsp of water for thickness. It was wonderful
01/17/2005
OK, I alterd this recipe a little after reading several reviews and it was Awesome! I used 1 lb of lean beef stew meat, ii cans aureate mushroom soup, i entire can of beef broth, i small can of sliced mushrooms, ane/2 onion and 1 TBSN of Worcheshire. I put it in the crock pot on high for one 60 minutes then turned it down for four-5 more. I stirred in 1/2 C of sour foam at the end and it was amazing served over egg noodles. Attempt It - Yous Volition Dearest IT!
03/17/2010
We honey this and have made it several times. First time I made it I used cream cheese, second time - a combination of foam cheese and sour cream. While the cream cheese is fine, I retrieve the tartness of the sour cream is far better. I do double the meat and quadruple the sauce because it tastes so great on those noodles and leftovers are wonderful.
